Last week I had the pleasure of working with one of my favorite corporate groups! The Southeastern Council of Foundations met for their annual meeting at the beautiful Grove Park Inn this year in Asheville, North Carolina. It was so nice seeing old friends and making some new ones too.
This is their new President and CEO, Michael Howland.
There was plenty of time for some socializing and fun throughout the week. Some of the highlights included saying a fond farewell to Martin Lehfeldt the retiring President at the Chairman’s Dinner Wednesday night.
Each day of the conference people took time to do a little painting too for a wonderful foundation, the Robert and Polly Dunn Foundation. They have a project called “Hospital Art” where groups can paint brightly colored canvas pictures. It is not only fun but therapeutic.
The Key Note Speaker at the Closing Plenary was Juan Williams, National Political Correspondent and Author. You can hear him on NPR and see him on Fox News. He was both funny and informative as he spoke to the group about what the future might hold for philanthropy under the new administration.
Next year we will be in Memphis, TN.
